SBI Holdings and Startale Group have unveiled Strium, a Layer-1 blockchain specifically designed for institutional trading of tokenized securities and real-world assets (RWAs). The platform aims to serve as a 24/7 exchange-layer solution, handling foreign exchange, synthetic securities, and RWA instruments with a focus on order matching, execution, and settlement.

The venture leverages SBI's financial expertise and licensed entities, while Startale contributes blockchain infrastructure capabilities. Strium will initially launch synthetic assets—derivatives linked to US and Japanese equities and commodities—before expanding to tokenized real assets pending regulatory approvals.

Proof-of-concept testing is complete, with testnet deployment and partner onboarding underway. The network deliberately excludes issuance and custody functions, leaving these to regulated entities, while optimizing for institutional-grade settlement systems in digital assets.
